Fractured Horizons: Global Design Exhibition Showcases Cultural Heritage and Emerging Technologies

The Fractured Horizons exhibition, an official International Spotlight Program of the NYCxDesign Festival 2025, brought together over 50,000 online and onsite visitors to explore the convergence of cultural heritage and emerging technologies. Organized by VSDesign and hosted by PI Art Center, the weeklong summit connected designers, artists, and tech pioneers from Asia, North America, and beyond.

The exhibition featured 100 selected works from 72 artists across three categories: Renowned Artists, Professional Artists, and New Talent. Representing voices from nine countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, China, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore, the artworks spanned diverse mediums such as AI-generated art, interactive installations, sustainable design, and immersive scenography.

Following a global open call that received over 500 submissions from 21 countries, a distinguished jury of acclaimed artists and designers carefully curated the exhibition. The selected works reflected a bold reimagining of artistic traditions in the digital age, emphasizing the global expansion of creative expression and cultural identity through design.

The opening ceremony on May 15 attracted diplomats, scholars, artists, and cultural leaders, including representatives from the Cultural Affairs Office of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in New York. Notable speakers and artists presented works that explored themes of urban transformation, technological innovation, and cultural preservation.

By bridging traditional artistic practices with cutting-edge technologies, Fractured Horizons demonstrated the potential for design to serve as a powerful medium for cross-cultural dialogue and understanding. The exhibition not only showcased individual artistic talent but also highlighted the increasingly interconnected nature of global creative industries.
