FWD Group Holdings Limited reported strong new business profitability for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, with new business contractual service margin reaching US$1.4 billion, up 22 per cent year-on-year. Value of new business grew 18 per cent to US$878 million, while new business sales on an annualised premium equivalent (APE) basis were US$1.95 billion, according to the unaudited results announced via NEWMEDIAWIRE.
The double-digit growth reflects a deliberate shift in product mix, particularly in Hong Kong, where medium-term endowment sales had featured heavily in 2025. Structural demand for protection and wealth management solutions continued to evolve, with FWD Private, the group’s high-net-worth unit, well established in international cross-border wealth hubs. Huynh Thanh Phong, Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, said disciplined execution, margin expansion and diversification across the pan-Asian platform are driving profitable growth while the company continues to innovate for customers and deliver results to shareholders.
In Thailand, results reflected a focus on higher-margin product sales and a refreshed go-to-market strategy across distribution channels, partly offset by a sustained lower interest-rate environment. The company noted a return to new business sales growth in Thailand in the last quarter. Japan delivered outstanding growth in new business sales and profitability, supported by a clear product strategy targeting savings and retirement solutions in a higher interest-rate environment. Growth in the Expansion Markets segment was driven by strong sales of investment-linked products in Singapore, increased sales to affluent customers in the Philippines and a thriving digital channel in Malaysia. The group’s joint venture in Indonesia, BRI Life, continues to lead the market in bancassurance.
The results matter for investors and the broader insurance industry because they suggest FWD’s strategy of prioritising margin over volume is bearing fruit even as it lapped a strong comparable period in 2025, particularly in Hong Kong and Macau. In its first year as a listed company, FWD Group has also been recognised for investor engagement, winning the Outstanding Listed Companies Award 2026 from the Hong Kong Institute of Financial Analysts and Professional Commentators, the Excellence Award for First-Year Listed Companies at the Hong Kong Management Association Best Annual Reports Awards 2026, and the Gold Award Annual Report Chairman’s Letter (Insurance: Life & Health category) at the 40th International ARC Awards.
FWD Group, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under stock code 1828, serves over 40 million customers across 10 markets. The company was established in 2013 and operates in some of the fastest-growing insurance markets in the world. Huynh said Asia’s long-term protection, savings and wealth opportunities remain significant and that the company is well positioned to help more people celebrate living with greater financial confidence.
