Greek baritone Konstantinos Stafylides emerged victorious in the prestigious International Voice Competition Boris Martinovich, showcasing exceptional vocal prowess and capturing the attention of a distinguished international judging panel.
The 21-year-old from Thessaloniki won the Uni/Pre-professional division, receiving a $1,000 first prize and multiple career-advancing opportunities. Competition chairman Boris Martinovich praised Stafylides' performance, highlighting his impressive voice technique, stage presence, and potential as a rising opera star.
As part of his prize, Stafylides will perform the role of Escamillo in the Clyde Opera Company's production of Carmen in Scotland this summer. Additionally, he has been awarded a one-year scholarship for vocal and career coaching with Boris Martinovich, a significant boost to his developing professional career.
Stafylides' musical credentials include a Classical Singing Diploma from the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and ongoing studies in Composition and Musicology at Aristotle University. His recent roles in productions of Le nozze di Figaro and La Bohéme underscore his growing reputation in the opera world.
The competition featured participants from multiple countries, with winners representing China, Korea, Russia, the United States, and Romania. This international scope highlights the event's significance in discovering and nurturing emerging vocal talent across global stages.
