Greenland Mines Advances Sarfartoq Rare Earths and Skaergaard Projects After Rebranding

Greenland Mines Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRML) has issued a shareholder letter from its President, Dr. Bo Møller Stensgaard, detailing the company's progress since its March rebranding. The letter underscores the closing of the Sarfartoq Neodymium-Praseodymium (Nd-Pr) Rare Earths Project acquisition on September 1 and ongoing development at the Skaergaard palladium-gold-platinum project. These initiatives are central to the company's strategy of creating a multi-asset platform with exposure to critical minerals and precious metals.

At Sarfartoq, Greenland Mines highlighted an independent Initial Assessment that projects a high-case pre-tax net present value (NPV) of approximately $2.05 billion, with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 118.6%, including both Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resources. The updated resource estimate comprises 6.9 million tonnes of Indicated resources at 1.60% total rare earth oxides (TREO) and 5.3 million tonnes of Inferred resources at 0.96% TREO. The company also noted that Neo Performance Materials holds a strategic stake, with offtake rights for up to 60% of future Sarfartoq production, ensuring a ready market for the rare earth output.

Progress at Skaergaard includes a July 2026 S-K 1300 Technical Report Summary, which increased the Indicated palladium-equivalent (PdEq) grade by 36% and contained Indicated PdEq ounces by 31% compared to the 2022 estimate. This upgrade enhances the project's economic viability. The company is currently conducting a 2026 field program involving drilling, bulk sampling, geotechnical work, environmental baseline studies, and surveys. Bulk material will be sent to GTK Mintec in Finland for metallurgical and processing flowsheet testing, a critical step toward defining a processing route.

Greenland Mines has outlined remaining milestones for the year, including advancing Sarfartoq toward infill drilling and a Pre-Feasibility Study, and moving Skaergaard toward an Initial Assessment that evaluates a mining scenario. These steps are part of the company's broader North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor strategy, which aims to link Greenland's mineral resources with allied downstream jurisdictions and industrial infrastructure.

The company's focus on rare earth elements, particularly neodymium and praseodymium, is significant given their use in permanent magnets for electric vehicles, wind turbines, and other clean energy technologies. With global demand for these materials rising, securing domestic and allied supply chains is a strategic priority. The Sarfartoq project, with its substantial resource base and high projected returns, positions Greenland Mines as a potential key player in the Western rare earth market.

At Skaergaard, the platinum group metals (PGMs) add a diversified commodity exposure. PGMs are used in automotive catalysts, electronics, and hydrogen fuel cells, making them essential for both traditional and emerging technologies. The enhanced resource estimate strengthens the project's potential, and the ongoing field program is designed to de-risk development through comprehensive technical and environmental studies.

Greenland Mines' dual focus on mining and biotech, including its Klotho subsidiary, adds a layer of diversification, but the mining projects are clearly the primary growth drivers. The company's successful closing of the Sarfartoq acquisition and the positive results from Skaergaard mark significant steps forward, but investors should note that these projects are still in the development phase. The upcoming Pre-Feasibility Study for Sarfartoq and the Initial Assessment for Skaergaard will be critical in determining their economic feasibility and timeline to production.
