Guangzhou, China, is set to offer a free one-day tour program to international transit passengers starting at the end of June. This initiative aims to further promote inbound tourism and demonstrate Guangzhou's hospitality to international visitors.
The announcement was made during the 2024 Guangzhou Aviation Hub High-quality Development Conference, themed "Open World, China's Hub," which took place from June 17-18, 2024. During the conference, Guangzhou also unveiled a new cultural and tourism promotional video titled "Visa Free, Feel Free" in six languages: Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
As one of the gateway cities implementing the 144-hour visa-free transit policy, Guangzhou has become a favored destination for foreign tourists visiting Guangdong. The policy allows people from over 50 countries, who hold valid international travel documents and connecting tickets to a third country or region within 144 hours, to enjoy visa-free transit within the administrative region of Guangdong Province.
The free one-day tour program will be available to international transit passengers at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Eligible passengers holding foreign passports can register for the tour, which includes free tour buses, English-speaking tour guides, scenic spot visits, dim sum for lunch, and other services. This initiative allows transit passengers to experience Guangzhou's hospitality and explore the city's attractions within their limited transit time.
The one-day tour itinerary focuses on urban sightseeing routes that highlight Guangzhou's history and culture. Key stops include Flower City Square, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, the Five Rams Statue, and the Ming Dynasty City Wall in Yuexiu Park. The tour also passes by notable landmarks such as the Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Library, Guangzhou Opera House, and Canton Tower, offering a comprehensive glimpse into the city's most classic tourist attractions.
By offering this free one-day tour, Guangzhou aims to attract more international visitors and integrate its unique stories into the broader "China travel" experience. This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the rapid development of China's inbound tourism sector.
