Hispanic Public Relations Association Unveils 2024 ¡BRAVO! Awards Honorees

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) has announced the honorees for its 2024 ¡BRAVO! Awards, spotlighting key figures who have made significant contributions to journalism, Hispanic leadership, and corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The awards ceremony, celebrating its 10th anniversary, will take place on October 10, 2024, at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. The event will be hosted by popular news anchors Jeannette Reyes and Robert Burton.

According to HPRA President Sonia V. Diaz, the honorees have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting multicultural communities both in the U.S. and globally. “This year, we honor trailblazers who have tirelessly advocated for multicultural communities across the U.S. and the globe,” said Diaz. “Our honorees have demonstrated exceptional courage, commitment, and resilience in promoting an inclusive future, fostering multicultural talent, and building a more diverse and equitable industry.”

The 2024 honorees include:

Pioneer of the Year: Pedro A. Guerrero

Pedro A. Guerrero, founder of Hispanic Executive, has been a transformative force in Hispanic media and leadership for nearly two decades. Under his guidance, Hispanic Executive has grown into a premier platform celebrating the achievements of Latino leaders across various industries. Guerrero also hosts the podcast "The Latino Majority," engaging in insightful conversations with influential Latino figures. His commitment to fostering a strong Latino professional community is evident in his co-founding of The Alumni Society and the launch of Guerrero Search, a recruitment firm dedicated to placing Latino executives in high-impact roles. Additionally, Guerrero has recently launched LiS: Latinos in Sports, a new venture aimed at elevating the presence and influence of Latinos in the sports industry.

Journalist of the Year: León Krauze

León Krauze, an award-winning journalist and author, has been a prominent voice in both Mexican and U.S. journalism for over two decades. Krauze's work has earned him numerous accolades, including 10 Emmy Awards and the Edward R. Murrow Award. His reporting focuses on international politics and the immigrant experience. Currently, a contributing columnist at The Washington Post, Krauze's work has also appeared in major publications such as Slate, The New Yorker, and The Daily Beast. He is an accomplished author of six books and has taught journalism in both Mexico and the United States. Krauze held the prestigious Wallis Annenberg Chair in Journalism at USC in 2016 and is now a senior fellow at the Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership and Policy.

DEI Champion: Monica Bauer

Monica Bauer, PepsiCo’s Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, has been a trailblazer in advancing DEI within the corporate world. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping PepsiCo’s inclusive corporate culture. Bauer has co-authored three books on coaching women to excel in corporate environments and is deeply invested in community advancement. She serves on the board of Chicas Poderosas, an organization focused on promoting gender equality and enhancing women's representation.

The 2024 HPRA National ¡BRAVO! Awards, marking their 10th year, recognize outstanding work by corporate, agency, and nonprofit PR and marketing teams. This year’s theme, “Building Legacy, Together,” underscores the collaborative vision of HPRA and its partners in uplifting the Hispanic community across various sectors.
