HKSTP Forges Asia-Europe Innovation Gateway at VivaTech 2026, Securing €70M in Business Leads

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has wrapped up its participation at Viva Technology (VivaTech) 2026 in Paris, securing more than 200 potential business leads valued at HK$70 million and signing multiple memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between its park companies and European partners, according to a press release. The event, held June 17-20, marked the 10th anniversary of VivaTech, a global platform for startups.

Among the deals, microalgae expert Algreen signed an MOU with South Korean climate tech firm ForNatures to enhance research and development capabilities in carbon capture management, advancing ESG goals. Robotics provider Robocore partnered with Slovenian cognitive software startup ARCHTYP to integrate a differentiating layer into its platform, and also closed a deal with French advertising giant JCDecaux to supply 1,000 robots for the European market. LeafIoT's green asset management solutions attracted interest from European preservation professionals, including the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), Catalonian environmental restoration company Gremi de Jardineria de Catalunya, and Professor Andrea Galli from Politecnico di Milano's Laboratory of Geotechnical Analysis and Modelling (GeoT-LAM), exploring new opportunities for market reach.

The delegation achieved over 50% growth in opportunities compared to VivaTech 2025, with more than 200 potential leads generated through pitching sessions, networking mixers, and investor engagement. HKSTP's growing presence at VivaTech aims to open doors for Hong Kong startups into European markets and create reciprocal pathways for European innovators to enter Asia via Hong Kong, located in the world's No.1 innovation cluster—the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), according to the World Intellectual Property Organisation Innovation Index.

Terry Wong, CEO of HKSTP, stated: "France and the EU represent critical opportunities for Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland I&T ventures to scale globally. VivaTech provides a world-class platform for collaboration, co-creation, and knowledge exchange." He emphasized Hong Kong's role as a global launchpad for innovation.

A highlight was the expansion of HKSTP's partnership with Bouygues Construction, a global leader in sustainable construction headquartered in France. Through its Hong Kong arm, Dragages Hong Kong, Bouygues has a 70-year legacy in Hong Kong, contributing to iconic infrastructure projects. HKSTP is the first and only institution in Hong Kong to bridge tech ventures into Bouygues Construction's Scale One programme, providing a fast track to prototyping and commercialisation. The partnership now extends beyond Asia, offering selected Hong Kong startups the chance to showcase solutions at Bouygues' headquarters in France and conduct pilot trials across European operations.

The Hong Kong Tech Pavilion, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and supported by HKSTP, showcased 24 tech ventures with market-ready solutions in AI, green tech, and health tech, marking a milestone in creating a direct bridge between Hong Kong and Europe's innovation hub.
