The 46th Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 29th electronicAsia concluded on October 16, 2026, drawing more than 61,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia, the four-day events highlighted strong global demand for artificial intelligence and robotics technologies, with over 3,200 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions. The fairs reinforced Hong Kong's position as an international trading hub connecting innovation with global markets. The event was reported by NEWMEDIAWIRE.
Buyers from outside Hong Kong came mainly from the Chinese Mainland, India, Japan, and the United States. Attendance from Kazakhstan, Brazil, and other emerging markets recorded encouraging growth. The HKTDC organised 130 buying missions involving buyers from 65 countries and regions, including major companies such as Samsung Electronics and SSG.com from Korea, Mercado Libre from Argentina, and Reichelt Elektronik from Germany. This diverse participation underscores the fairs' appeal as a one-stop sourcing marketplace.
Silas Chu, HKTDC Associate Executive Director, said the fairs generated strong sourcing momentum and facilitated numerous business deals. He noted that the role of trade fairs is evolving beyond product showcases to become platforms for innovation and cross-sector collaboration. The newly introduced Future Industries Zone and GoGlobal Connect Zone attracted strong interest, reflecting demand from Chinese Mainland enterprises seeking to expand overseas via Hong Kong's professional services.
A survey of over 1,150 buyers and exhibitors found that 96% expected overall sales to increase or remain stable over the next 12 to 24 months. The most promising growth opportunities were identified in ASEAN (83%), the Middle East (83%), and the Chinese Mainland (81%). Additionally, 74% of surveyed companies are already applying or planning to apply generative AI technologies, with nearly 60% citing AI as the technology expected to have the greatest impact on the industry over the next two years.
The fairs featured more than 120 robots, primarily at RoboPark, demonstrating applications in commercial, industrial, entertainment, and healthcare sectors. Booster Robotics, winner of the 2026 RoboCup World Championship, showcased its humanoid robot. Yang Liuyang, APAC Sales Director, reported around 100 daily buyer visits and plans to appoint distributors in Hong Kong. The Future Industries Zone spotlighted five key themes, including Future Computing and Future Manufacturing, with over 100 companies presenting cutting-edge solutions.
Overseas exhibitors like Cyprus-based Clevetura used the fair to explore global opportunities, while Hong Kong start-up Fliq connected with around 30 potential investors. The HKTDC's GoGlobal Connect Zone supported Chinese Mainland enterprises with financing, compliance, and logistics services. Huahon Data Technology, a provider of liquid-cooled AI computing systems, connected with buyers from Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, and plans to establish a registered company in Hong Kong within two months.
The fairs also attracted global buyers such as Cizar Abughazaleh from Dubai, who purchased robots for educational applications, and Masibo Levy Wafula from Kenya, who plans to procure smart metering solutions worth around US$100,000. Fabio Marqui from Brazil's Hayamax finalised a US$200,000 order and expects to establish four new business collaborations. These deals highlight the fairs' role in facilitating international trade.
More than 100 events featured over 180 industry experts, covering topics such as AI applications, digital transformation, and cross-border opportunities. The HKTDC will continue Hong Kong's October exhibition season with the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, and Eco Expo Asia later this month.
