Hong Kong Lighting and Eco Expos Draw 62,000 Buyers, Survey Signals Industry Optimism

The 28th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the 11th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo and the 21st Eco Expo Asia concluded with combined attendance of some 62,000 buyers from 152 countries and regions, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced. The results underscore Hong Kong's role as an international trade platform connecting the Chinese Mainland with global markets.

An independent survey of more than 740 exhibitors and buyers conducted during the two lighting fairs found that 63% of respondents expect sales to increase over the next two years, while 34% anticipate sales will remain unchanged. The Chinese Mainland, the Middle East and ASEAN were each identified as promising markets by 84% to 85% of respondents. On product trends, respondents cited artificial intelligence (54%), technological advancement (44%) and smart city development (43%) as the top drivers of industry growth, and 86% viewed the market potential of smart lighting over the next two years as promising or very promising.

HKTDC Associate Executive Director Silas Chu said the exhibitions demonstrated Hong Kong's advantages as an international trade platform. The twin lighting fairs, held under the theme "Beyond Illumination," featured some 3,000 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions and drew approximately 39,000 and 11,000 buyers respectively. The new LED Display Solution zone debuted this year, while the Hall of Connected Lighting gathered around 70 brands.

Exhibitors reported concrete commercial outcomes. Steve Jiang, Sales Leader of OEM Greater China at Signify, said the fair's international positioning has made it indispensable to expanding the company's global presence, noting a partnership originating at the 2023 fair that now generates annual business volume of RMB15 million. Zhongshan SUFN Lighting Technology, exhibiting for the third consecutive year, connected with over 200 new international clients and forecasts 20% sales growth this year.

Eco Expo Asia, jointly organised by the HKTDC and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, drew over 340 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions and more than 11,000 buyers. International participation reached new heights, with 18 pavilions including a debut ASEAN Pavilion bringing together 12 green technology companies from seven ASEAN countries. More than 30 forums featured over 80 government officials, industry leaders and experts.

The expo's first GoGlobal Connect Zone provided Chinese Mainland green enterprises with matching services to venture overseas alongside Hong Kong professional services. The three events adopted the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, with online components running until 5 and 6 November. For companies and buyers across lighting and green technology, the results signal sustained demand and expanding cross-border collaboration opportunities.
