The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show opened today at AsiaWorld-Expo, with the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show following on Wednesday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), these twin events under the 'Two Shows, Two Venues' format collectively represent the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace. Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, stated that the shows present an extensive spectrum of product categories, from diamonds, gemstones, and pearls to finished jewellery, designer brands, and packaging. This year, approximately 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions are participating, with 70% coming from outside Hong Kong, reinforcing the highly international nature of the events.
The Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show features more than 20 pavilions representing countries and regions including Germany, Italy, Colombia, the United States, India, and Thailand. A notable debut is the Zhushan Turquoise Pavilion, showcasing natural treasures from Zhushan County in Hubei Province, known as the 'Hometown of Chinese Turquoise.' The Tanzanite Foundation and the International Colored Gemstone Association, with 37 exhibitors, are also present. Three major product zones—the Hall of Fine Diamonds, Treasures of Nature, and Treasures of Ocean—highlight materials such as high-end diamonds, natural gemstones, and pearls. Exhibitors like Arihant Star (HK) Limited display a fancy intense pink VVS2 diamond, while Emco Gem Inc. presents an 11-carat cushion-cut Colombian emerald, and Alain Boite S.A.S. exhibits a freshwater pearl strand.
Around 10 exhibitors are featured in the GIA Hong Kong Laboratory Limited booth, offering jewellery authentication services. GIA Hong Kong Laboratory Limited will launch a new coloured gemstone report that provides clearer information on a stone's type, processing, and origin, aiding industry and consumers in understanding each gem's unique value. Hong Kong Limited, a leading laboratory and research institution, provides professional testing services and promotes origin technologies to enhance accuracy and transparency in gemstone identification. Throughout the show, industry seminars, jewellery parades, and networking receptions will be held. Highlights include a seminar on natural diamond market trends by De Beers representatives and a session on sustainable gem practices by Gem Lab Gübelin Gem Lab Limited, which will discuss the integration of scientific testing and blockchain records for provenance and ethical traceability.
The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, opening Wednesday, will showcase finished jewellery pieces with 20 group pavilions from around the world. Debuts include the World Gold Council's Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, promoting innovative gold craftsmanship from Chinese Mainland, and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion. Creative design zones like the Designer Galleria will feature about 50 designer exhibitors, while the Hall of Fame has expanded by over 40% to present a broader selection of international jewellery brands. To facilitate buyer visits, the HKTDC arranges free shuttle bus services between AsiaWorld-Expo and urban areas, including the HKCEC. Special measures for Muslim buyers include dedicated prayer rooms, shuttle buses to local mosques, and lists of Muslim-friendly hotels and restaurants. The HKTDC has partnered with the Hong Kong Tourism Board and various enterprises to offer exclusive buyer privileges for dining, air tickets, and hotels.
