On September 18, 2024, the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its World Peace Summit in South Korea and other locations worldwide, reaching 122 countries. The event, themed 'Creating World Peace Community Through Regional Collaboration,' aims to honor a decade of global leaders' and citizens' commitment to peace while planning future strategies for global harmony.
In 2014, HWPL, an international peace organization, brought together over a thousand leaders from politics, religion, women's groups, youth organizations, and the media from approximately 140 countries to the inaugural HWPL World Peace Summit in Seoul. The summit focused on conflict resolution, religious harmony, and implementing legal measures for lasting peace.
The anniversary aims to review the achievements since 2014 and discuss future plans. Regional talents will be gathered to establish networks essential for tailored peace strategies, strengthening local networks to tackle peace threats, and leveraging collective capacities. Various sessions will be held in each country at different levels.
Under the slogan "Let's have everyone become a messenger of peace," HWPL emphasizes individual responsibility in promoting peace. The organization plans to collect messages of peace from people worldwide and reveal them at the event, representing the global desire for peace and unity.
Over the past decade, HWPL and its global partners have addressed challenges such as military tensions, economic disputes, climate change, and cyber security threats through enhanced regional cooperation and collective action. HWPL is dedicated to establishing a robust peace governance framework by connecting international organizations, governments, and civil societies.
During the 9th Anniversary in 2023, Chairman Lee Man-hee of HWPL highlighted the importance of peace for young generations, questioning the necessity of war and emphasizing the need for lasting peace beyond mere words.
HWPL is a non-governmental organization registered with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and associated with the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC) and the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). In partnership with the International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), HWPL aims to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by spreading a culture of peace through forums, education, volunteer work, and campaigns.
HWPL's peace activities will continue until sustainable peace is assured for future generations.
