ITASCA Forms North American Division to Integrate Geomechanics and Hydrogeology Services

ITASCA, a global employee-owned engineering consulting and software-development company, announced today the formation of ITASCA North America, a strategic integration of its Minneapolis, Canada, and Denver teams. The move aims to strengthen the firm's ability to deliver integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions that combine geomechanics, hydrogeology, and engineering geology to enhance performance, accelerate decision-making, and reduce project risk across key sectors.

According to the company, the integration reflects growing demand for multidisciplinary problem solving that connects these disciplines early and effectively. ITASCA North America makes it easier to bring together the right expertise across the U.S. and Canada to support complex mining, groundwater, infrastructure, and energy-transition challenges.

"For decades, our clients have trusted ITASCA to solve problems that do not fit neatly into one discipline," said Tryana Garza-Cruz, General Manager of ITASCA North America and Principal Geomechanics Engineer. "This next step strengthens how we deliver that value in North America by connecting technical expertise, practical engineering judgment, advanced numerical modeling, and software innovation to achieve better client outcomes."

Clients can expect continuity in relationships, project teams, and primary contacts, with ongoing work and deadlines continuing without interruption. The formation is designed to provide broader access to specialized expertise and faster coordination across disciplines.

The company highlighted several benefits for clients, including integrated expertise through multidisciplinary teams spanning geomechanics, hydrogeology, and engineering geology to address complex challenges. ITASCA also emphasized its distinctive consulting and software-development model, which develops innovative geomechanical and hydrogeological software used worldwide, strengthening the quality and rigor of its client solutions. Additionally, clients will gain faster access to expertise through improved coordination across regions and disciplines.

"This reflects how our clients already engage with ITASCA, as one firm with global expertise," said Jonny Sjöberg, Chief Executive Officer of ITASCA International. "By aligning our North American operations, we can respond faster, collaborate more effectively, and deliver even stronger outcomes without disrupting the relationships our clients depend on."

ITASCA North America is led by Dr. Tryana Garza-Cruz, whose leadership and technical experience reflect the company's commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, and client-focused delivery. The formation positions ITASCA to better support increasingly complex challenges across mining, civil infrastructure, energy, and environmental projects by making it easier to connect disciplines and deliver integrated solutions grounded in science, engineering, and innovation, while continuing to provide the high-touch, relationship-driven service clients expect.

"At its core, this change is about strengthening our ability to serve our clients," added Garza-Cruz. "We are building on what already works, trusted relationships and technical excellence, while making it easier for clients to access the full depth of ITASCA."
