McDonald was a groundbreaking harpist who became the first American to receive the Premier Prix de Harpe from the Paris Conservatory in 1955. Her musical journey began as a teenage prodigy studying with renowned harpist Henriette Renié in Paris, launching a career that would inspire generations of musicians worldwide.
Throughout her 35-year teaching career at Indiana University, McDonald was recognized as a transformative educator who nurtured emerging musical talent.
