Los Defensores Marks 40 Years of Service and Community Empowerment

Los Defensores, the pioneering national brand dedicated to connecting the Latino community in the United States to qualified legal services, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Over the past four decades, the organization has been instrumental in providing access to crucial legal support for underserved and marginalized communities, making a significant impact nationwide.

Since its inception in 1984, Los Defensores has been at the forefront of empowering Latinos by linking them to necessary legal services. The organization has assisted over 3 million Latinos across generations, ensuring they receive the legal representation they deserve. This milestone underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to addressing the legal needs of the Latino population.

Jaime Jarrín, the renowned Spanish-language voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his son Jorge Jarrín have been integral to the identity of Los Defensores since 1985. Their presence in the company’s iconic television ads has made them cherished figures within the community and a significant part of Latino pop culture in the U.S.

Nicole Cordero, Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Marketing at Los Defensores, emphasized the deep connections the organization has cultivated with the communities it serves. She reiterated the company’s dedication to strengthening these bonds and enhancing relationships in the future.

As a part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Los Defensores has partnered with the Jaime y Blanca Jarrin Foundation (JBJF) to establish the Los Defensores Scholarship. This initiative aims to support aspiring lawyers and journalists by helping them overcome financial and societal barriers to achieve their educational and professional goals. This year, $50,000 in scholarships have been awarded to college and law school students.

The upcoming 40th Anniversary Gala on August 15th, held at the Petersen Automotive Museum, will see the unveiling of a new community initiative. This effort is expected to further advance Los Defensores’ commitment to community empowerment and corporate social responsibility.

Los Defensores was founded to address the challenges faced by non-English speakers in understanding legal language and their rights.
