The Martial Arts History Museum is set to open its doors in a new, larger location in Glendale on June 7, 2025, offering an immersive experience into the world of martial arts and its cultural significance. The grand opening will feature traditional Chinese lion dancing, kung fu demonstrations, and speeches from city dignitaries, highlighting the museum's role in bridging cultures through martial arts.
With over 26 years of history, the museum has evolved from a traveling exhibit to a permanent home in Glendale, showcasing hundreds of artifacts, including gis from martial arts pioneers and iconic movie props. The new facility also includes a 122-seat theater, enhancing the visitor experience with film screenings and book signings.
Beyond its exhibits, the museum serves as a non-profit charity, hosting humanitarian events for individuals with dementia and physical or mental challenges, embodying the martial arts values of discipline, respect, and community empowerment. Michael Matsuda, the museum's founder, emphasizes the institution's mission to preserve martial arts history and its influence on global culture, offering a unique educational journey for all visitors.
