Mothers’ Milk Bank California is addressing the seasonal decline in breast milk donations by introducing flexible pick-up services and Saturday screening appointments. From June 21 through August 15, 2025, donors in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties can schedule contactless milk pick-ups from their homes, Monday through Friday. Additionally, new potential donors can now complete screenings on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., making it easier for those unable to participate during regular business hours.
The initiative is crucial as summer often sees a dip in donations due to travel and scheduling conflicts, yet the demand for donor milk remains constant, especially for medically fragile babies in NICUs. The milk bank also offers professional medical interpretation services in over 200 languages to ensure equitable access to donation opportunities.
Donors can start by filling out a quick pick-up form or signing up for a Saturday screening. The organization provides packing materials and instructions for a safe, contactless handoff. This effort not only supports the immediate needs of vulnerable infants but also strengthens the community's role in neonatal care.
