A significant advancement in maternal mental health support has emerged with a major New Jersey health plan's decision to cover Curio Care's innovative digital therapeutic solutions. The partnership will provide mental health resources for expectant and new mothers, addressing a critical gap in healthcare services.
MamaLift and MamaLift Plus, Curio Care's digital platforms, offer evidence-based mental health support tailored specifically to mothers. MamaLift Plus holds particular significance as the first FDA-cleared Prescription Digital Therapeutic designed to treat mild to moderate postpartum depression symptoms.
This collaboration is particularly important given that postpartum depression affects nearly one in seven new mothers. Many women face substantial barriers to accessing mental health support, making digital, stigma-free solutions crucial for maternal wellness.
The digital programs enable healthcare providers and care navigators to refer mothers to specialized mental health support, creating a mobile-first, accessible pathway to care. By integrating technology with clinical expertise, the partnership aims to meet mothers' mental health needs more effectively and conveniently.
Dr. Steve Peskin, CEO of Curio Care, emphasized the importance of timely, technology-enabled care for maternal mental health. The insurance coverage represents a significant step toward recognizing and addressing the psychological challenges women face during and after pregnancy.
With this partnership, more than 55% of expectant and new mothers in New Jersey can now access personalized, flexible mental health support that acknowledges the complex emotional landscape of motherhood.
