Applications are now open for the Keith Dagostino Scholarship for Cancer Survivors, a new national award designed to support undergraduate students who have overcome a cancer diagnosis. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to resilient individuals pursuing higher education, acknowledging the unique challenges they have faced.
The program is open to undergraduates enrolled in accredited American universities or colleges, regardless of their field of study or geographic location. To qualify, candidates must be in good academic standing and submit an essay answering: "How has your journey as a cancer survivor shaped your understanding of resilience, and how do you plan to apply that strength to your future professional or community leadership roles?"
The scholarship was founded by Keith Dagostino, a financial executive who built his career on dedication and perseverance. Dagostino earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Hofstra University in three years and has spent nearly three decades in financial services. As a Senior Managing Director, husband, father of five, former youth sports coach, and school trustee, he recognizes the importance of perseverance in achieving long-term success. Through this initiative, he aims to ease educational expenses for students who exemplify these principles.
Cancer survival requires profound mental and physical endurance, and this scholarship acknowledges those challenges by offering financial support to college students across the country. By recognizing academic achievement, personal resilience, and future leadership potential, the program seeks to empower survivors to continue their educational journeys and contribute to their communities.
Scholarship applications must be submitted electronically by January 15, 2027. The selection committee will evaluate submissions based on original thought, leadership potential, and the applicant's articulated vision for contributing to their community.
