Onco-Innovations Partners with Nanosoft Polymers to Accelerate ONC010 Development

Onco-Innovations Limited (CBOE CA: ONCO) (OTCQB: ONNVF) has entered into a services agreement with Nanosoft Polymers to support the development of ONC010, the company’s lead nanoparticle-formulated PNKP inhibitor, according to a press release. The collaboration aims to strengthen the manufacturing and formulation foundation of ONC010 as it progresses through IND-enabling activities and preparation for future clinical studies.

Under the agreement, Nanosoft will provide polymer process development, analytical characterization, formulation optimization, scale-up support, and technology transfer services for Onco’s proprietary PEO-PBCL polymer platform. This work is designed to establish scalable polymer production processes, enhance analytical methods, and support future Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing readiness. The partnership is expected to complement ongoing chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) activities with Dalton Pharma Services and preclinical development efforts at Nucro-Technics as Onco advances ONC010 toward first-in-human clinical evaluation.

For Onco-Innovations, this engagement represents a critical step in de-risking the development pathway for ONC010, a novel therapy targeting solid tumors through the inhibition of polynucleotide kinase/phosphatase (PNKP), an enzyme involved in DNA repair. By leveraging Nanosoft’s expertise in polymer science, Onco aims to ensure that the nanoparticle formulation can be manufactured consistently and at scale, a key requirement for regulatory approval and eventual commercialization. The news matters because it signals progress in translating a promising preclinical candidate into a clinical-stage asset, potentially offering new treatment options for patients with solid tumors where current therapies are limited.

The implications for the oncology industry are significant. Nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems like ONC010 have the potential to improve the therapeutic index of anticancer agents by enhancing tumor targeting and reducing systemic toxicity. If successful, Onco’s PEO-PBCL platform could serve as a versatile delivery vehicle for other therapeutics, broadening its impact. For investors, the partnership with Nanosoft, a specialized polymer development firm, adds credibility to Onco’s technical execution capabilities. The company has secured an exclusive worldwide license to patented technology targeting solid tumors, as noted in the release.
