Opawica Explorations has begun mobilizing drilling operations at its Bazooka Project in Quebec's Abitibi gold belt, targeting 20 high-priority locations previously identified through advanced geospatial analysis. The drilling program, to be conducted by RJLL Forage Drilling, aims to further explore and potentially validate gold mineralization in an area known for significant geological potential.
The Bazooka property is strategically located along the Cadillac-Larder Lake Break/Fault, a geological structure renowned for its auriferous characteristics. The property features a mixed geological zone with quartz-carbonate-sericite and talc-chlorite schists, with a mineralization zone estimated up to 60 meters wide.
The exploration program offers significant advantages, including direct road access and proximity to hydroelectric power, which helps minimize exploration costs. The property is surrounded by multiple active mines within a 7-kilometer radius, underscoring the region's substantial gold production potential.
Since 2021, the company has invested over $6 million in asset development, including two previous drilling programs. The current initiative follows a comprehensive 384-line-kilometer geophysical survey and successful permitting of drill holes. Additionally, the company has secured $2.4 million through a recent private placement to support ongoing exploration efforts.
CEO Blake Morgan emphasized the company's strategic focus on maximizing asset value in the Rouyn-Noranda camp, with the immediate goal of enhancing understanding of gold mineralization at the Bazooka and Arrowhead properties.
