Retired Healthcare Executive Rick Wilton Releases Devotional 'Every Breath' Offering Hope for Life's Unwanted Journeys

Retired healthcare executive and author Rick Wilton has announced the release of his new devotional, Every Breath, published by Clay Bridges Press. The book addresses the difficult questions people face when life takes unexpected turns, such as diagnoses, grief, broken dreams, and seasons of waiting. Wilton draws from his personal experiences and decades of leadership to offer a compassionate reminder that God remains faithful even in unwanted journeys.

According to Wilton, the devotional speaks candidly about suffering without offering easy answers. Instead, it points readers toward hope found in Christ, encouraging them to lean on Scripture, prayer, and community support. 'Every one of us will eventually face a journey we never would have chosen,' Wilton said. 'My prayer is that readers will discover they are not walking those roads alone.'

The book's authenticity stems from Wilton's own transparency. He noted, 'There is no candy coating in this book. I wanted to tell the truth about what it looks like to walk through an unwanted season while holding tightly to God.' Wilton's writing journey began over fifty years ago when his tenth-grade English teacher recognized his gift. Though he pursued a career in healthcare, he never abandoned writing, which he now describes as an act of obedience inspired by God.

Wilton, a native West Virginian and graduate of Marshall University, retired from his role as a healthcare executive to focus on writing, family, and ministry. He has been married to his wife, Sandy, for more than forty years, and they have two sons, two daughters-in-love, and six grandchildren. When not writing, he enjoys hiking, trout fishing, and spending time with family.

The devotional is published by Clay Bridges Press, a Houston-area hybrid publisher that helps authors edit, publish, and promote their books. For aspiring writers, Wilton offers simple advice: 'Do the work. Follow the prompting of your heart and the Holy Spirit. Write every day. You never know how God may use your words to encourage someone else.'

Every Breath invites readers to trust God through every season, reminding them that even the hardest journeys can deepen faith and bring glory to God. Wilton hopes readers leave with the belief that God has not abandoned them and is using every step to shape them into who He created them to be.
