A new survey by LogicMark, Inc. (OTC: LGMK), a provider of personal emergency response systems, reveals that safety concerns are imposing significant limitations on the daily lives of many women across the United States. The survey found that 38% of women report moderate to significant restrictions on their activities due to feeling unsafe, with the figure rising to 44% among women aged 18 to 25. These limitations include avoiding certain routes, activities, travel and social events, which can have a compounding effect on career choices, fitness routines and social interactions.
According to the survey, over half of the women surveyed have experienced situations where they felt unsafe, with younger women reporting repeated instances. However, many found that when they needed help, they couldn't reach it because the safety devices they carried—such as personal sirens, pepper spray or flashlights—were not practical to carry or capable of contacting emergency services. This gap in accessible safety tools is what LogicMark aims to address with its Aster app and Aster SOS Safety Button.
The Aster app turns a smartphone into a connected safety tool, offering features like a home-screen slider for immediate emergency access, a Hold Until Safe feature for proactive monitoring, and a Follow-Me feature that schedules check-ins during travel. If a user becomes unresponsive, the app automatically escalates to emergency support. Location sharing is activated only during an emergency to protect privacy. Complementing the app is the Aster Bluetooth button, a compact wearable that connects directly to the app. With three presses, users are connected to a 24/7 monitoring center where an agent can assess the situation and stay on the line until the user is safe.
The impact of safety concerns on women's lives is profound. As highlighted in the survey, these concerns can shape career paths—women may avoid fields requiring late-night shifts or travel—and alter fitness routines, such as not jogging outdoors or skipping evening gym visits. Social lives also suffer as spontaneity is replaced with constant calculation. "What begins as precaution quietly becomes restriction, shaping life choices in ways that are often invisible but deeply impactful," the survey noted. By providing a reliable and always-available safety net, LogicMark's Aster aims to help women reclaim their mobility and independence, reducing the need for constant vigilance and allowing them to participate fully in life.
