On October 3, 2026, the National Mall in Washington, D.C., hosted "Future Resonance — ShanghaiEye Night," a cultural exchange event that transformed the iconic location into a "mini Shanghai" carnival. Organized by Shanghai Media Group as part of the "Shanghai Let's Meet" initiative, the event aimed to build bridges between the United States and China through immersive experiences and high-level dialogue. According to Media OutReach Newswire, the gathering attracted nearly 100 prominent figures from politics, business, technology, culture, and the arts.

The afternoon carnival featured 50 stalls offering international cuisine, a "Shanghai Charm" exhibition, and displays of China's intangible cultural heritage. Visitors explored Shanghai's technological innovation through a model of the C919 passenger jet and the Oriental Pearl Tower. Virtual reality headsets from the Shanghai Museum provided a journey through the city's past and present. Time-honored brands like White Rabbit candy, Hero fountain pens, and Lao Feng Xiang Jewelry gave attendees a taste of Shanghai's homegrown products. An IP SHANGHAI lenticular art exhibition added a dynamic visual element, showcasing the city as a first stop for international visitors to China.

As evening fell, the "Future Resonance" outdoor concert began with the U.S. One Voice Children's Choir and the Manhattan Philharmonic performing "We Are Together," a song created in Shanghai to celebrate friendship between the two countries. The program included symphonic works, traditional Chinese music, Chinese opera, and anime music, with footage from Shanghai's city image film "UP! SHANGHAI" playing on a large screen. The concert highlighted cultural collaboration and drew an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Later, the ShanghaiEye Night dialogue session, themed "Invest in China for a Win-Win Future," focused on the China International Import Expo and Shanghai's development as an international economic, financial, trade, shipping, and technological innovation center. The session provided a platform for high-level dialogue and practical cooperation between Chinese and U.S. companies. A "Shanghai Charm" city image reception area displayed 20 historical photographs capturing key moments in U.S.-China relations, such as the signing of the Shanghai Communiqué and the opening of Apple's first store in China. Another 20 photographs from the IP SHANGHAI platform under the theme "Chasing Dreams in Shanghai" showcased Lujiazui Financial City, Yangshan Deep-Water Port, and the Shanghai Grand Opera House.

Supported by the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government and co-hosted by Shanghai Media Group, the World Intangible Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, and the Washington Chinese Community Alliance, the event brought Shanghai closer to American audiences. It served as a platform for people-to-people and cultural exchange, offering a glimpse of Shanghai as an open, inclusive, and dynamic international metropolis. Many visitors expressed interest in visiting Shanghai in person and exploring the city on foot through a "city walk."

The event holds significance for business and cultural ties, as it showcased Shanghai's world-class business environment and provided opportunities for collaboration. By highlighting the city's role as a global hub, the gathering reinforced the importance of cross-Pacific exchanges in fostering mutual understanding and economic cooperation. As U.S.-China relations continue to evolve, such initiatives demonstrate the value of direct engagement and shared cultural experiences.
