The Shincheonji Church of Jesus has positioned itself as the sole religious institution capable of accurately interpreting the Book of Revelation, challenging mainstream Christian denominational teachings through an intensive educational approach.
The church requires all members to complete comprehensive biblical education through its Zion Christian Mission Center, featuring elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels of study. This educational program culminates in a graduation exam, with the church having previously celebrated graduation ceremonies involving over 100,000 students.
Central to Shincheonji's theological stance is strict adherence to Revelation 22:18–19, which warns against adding or removing words from the biblical text. Chairman Man-Hee Lee emphasizes this principle, encouraging believers to deeply understand and internalize scriptural teachings.
The church administers a weekly 'Seal of God Confirmation Test' covering the four Gospels and Revelation, with recent data showing remarkable participant engagement. From January to April, members achieved an average test score of 99 points, with a 97% participation rate and a 99.9% pass rate above 90 points.
Notably, the church claims that most Christian leaders misinterpret Revelation, arguing that only those who have witnessed its actual fulfillment can truly understand its meaning. This controversial stance has led to accusations of heresy from Catholic and Protestant denominations, which Shincheonji categorically rejects.
Former pastors who have joined Shincheonji provide testimonials supporting the church's comprehensive biblical approach. One former pastor stated that Shincheonji members often demonstrate more profound biblical knowledge than traditional clergy, suggesting a radical reexamination of scriptural understanding.
As religious interpretation continues to evolve, Shincheonji presents itself as a definitive source for biblical truth, challenging believers to critically examine their understanding of theological texts.
