Simple Launches All-in-One Retail POS to Challenge Fragmented, Fee-Heavy Systems

Simple, an all-in-one commerce platform for small and mid-size businesses, has announced the nationwide expansion of its retail POS system. The move targets independent retailers and multi-location stores burdened by fragmented, fee-heavy point-of-sale solutions that dominate the market.

Many retailers currently run their operations on a patchwork of subscriptions: one tool for the register, another for e-commerce, and separate solutions for loyalty, marketing, scheduling, and inventory. Each adds a monthly fee, and most popular processors layer per-transaction charges on top of published rates. Simple structures its platform differently. All 22+ modules are included in every plan, and payment processing runs at a flat 2.19% with no per-transaction fees.

The Simple retail POS includes real-time inventory tracking across locations, unlimited registers on every plan, an offline mode that keeps sales processing through internet outages, and a built-in e-commerce storefront that shares a single catalog with the register. The platform also covers customer loyalty, marketing automation, employee scheduling, and a time clock with payroll export. Stores can be operational within days, with no long-term contract required.

According to Justin Dabish, CEO of Simple, retailers are tired of watching their margins disappear into software add-ons and processing fees. "We built one point of sale for retail that does everything a modern store needs, priced it flat, and put every feature in every plan. What you see is what you pay," he said.

Pricing starts at $99 per month per location with all modules included. The 2.19% flat processing rate applies to every card type, with no monthly card fees, gateway fees, or surcharges. A free card reader is included with every plan.

This announcement is significant because it challenges the status quo in the retail technology industry. Independent retailers often face high costs and complexity when assembling their POS systems, which can erode profit margins. By offering a single, flat-rate solution with no per-transaction fees, Simple aims to simplify operations and reduce costs for its clients. The inclusion of a built-in e-commerce storefront and shared catalog also helps retailers unify their online and in-store sales channels, which is increasingly important in today's omnichannel retail environment.

Simple's move into the retail POS space intensifies competition among providers, potentially leading to more favorable pricing and features for small businesses. As more retailers seek to streamline their operations and cut costs, solutions like Simple's could become more attractive, forcing other providers to reassess their pricing structures.

The retail POS system is available now across the United States. Retailers can compare plans or book a demonstration at simplecommerce.io/industries/retail.
