Sinsungo Launches Foldable Vacuum-Insulated Cooler on Kickstarter

Sinsungo Inc., a refrigeration and freezing technology startup, announced today that it will launch a global Kickstarter campaign this October for "GLEA," a premium foldable cooler powered by advanced vacuum-insulation technology. The campaign is scheduled to launch on October 15th, 2026, offering exclusive early-bird discounts to backers. The announcement signals a potential shift in the portable cooling market, where consumers have long had to choose between the superior cold retention of bulky hard coolers and the portability of less effective soft coolers.

GLEA was developed to seamlessly bridge the gap between the high-performance cold retention of hard coolers and the portable, space-saving convenience of soft coolers. When in use, it provides ample storage capacity; when folded, it measures approximately 2 inches (5 cm) thick, allowing for easy storage in tight spaces such as car trunks or home closets. This design addresses a common pain point for outdoor enthusiasts and urban dwellers alike: the storage burden of traditional coolers when not in use.

At the core of the cooler is Sinsungo's proprietary Foldable Vacuum Insulation (FVI) structure. Traditional Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP), commonly used in refrigerators, freezers, and industrial cold-chain boxes, offer exceptional insulation, but are notoriously difficult to bend or fold. Sinsungo redesigned this vacuum-insulation system to bend up to 180 degrees, applying the FVI structure across all six sides of the GLEA cooler. This engineering breakthrough could have broader implications for the cold-chain industry, where flexible insulation could reduce shipping costs and improve temperature control for perishable goods.

Through this technology, GLEA delivers up to 48 hours of cold retention. It is built for a wide range of uses requiring long-lasting temperature control—from long-distance road trips, camping, and picnics to bulk grocery shopping and frozen-food transport. For businesses, this could mean more reliable transport of temperature-sensitive products without relying on heavy, rigid containers.

Despite its powerful insulation capabilities, GLEA remains highly portable thanks to its lightweight design. Weighing just 2.4 kg (5.3 lbs), it comes equipped with a handle and strap for comfortable transport. Unlike conventional hard coolers that take up substantial space even when empty, GLEA expands when needed and folds flat for storage when the job is done. This portability could appeal to a wide range of consumers, from campers to city dwellers with limited storage.

Designed for outdoor versatility, the cooler features water-resistant and hygienic construction. The exterior is treated with a water-repellent coating to resist moisture and stains, while the interior features a water-resistant lining designed to handle melting ice and liquid spills. The surface can be easily wiped clean with a soft cloth after use.

GLEA will be offered in three capacities: 8 L, 27 L, and 33 L, to suit a variety of needs, from daily grocery runs to outdoor adventures. Through this Kickstarter campaign, Sinsungo plans to focus its initial outreach on the U.S. market. The company's decision to launch on Kickstarter suggests a desire to test consumer demand and build a community around its technology before scaling up.

"GLEA represents a fresh interpretation of vacuum-insulation technologies traditionally used in refrigeration, freezing, and cold-chain applications, bringing that same performance into everyday life with enhanced convenience," said a Sinsungo representative. "Through this Kickstarter campaign, we look forward to validating the potential of our FVI technology with global backers and expanding its use across a broader lineup of portable cold-chain products."

The success of this campaign could pave the way for more flexible insulation solutions in both consumer and industrial markets. For now, interested backers can visit the Kickstarter campaign page to learn more and take advantage of early-bird discounts.
