SoftwareOne Secures Seventh Straight Gartner Leader Nod in SAM Managed Services

SoftwareOne (SIX: SWON) has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SAM Managed Services for the seventh consecutive year, a distinction the Switzerland-based software and cloud solutions provider announced through NEWMEDIAWIRE. The placement matters to enterprises because software asset management has become a financial control function rather than a back-office chore, as licensing models shift toward consumption-based cloud and AI-driven pricing.

Software asset management gives organizations visibility and control over their on-premises IT, cloud and SaaS estates. SoftwareOne helps customers simplify these portfolios, improving financial control and managing licensing and audit risks so resources can be redirected toward business priorities and innovation. For CFOs and IT leaders, that translates into fewer surprise true-ups, tighter vendor negotiations and clearer answers on what technology actually costs.

"Seven consecutive years as a Leader matters to us because we believe that consistency is what our customers actually buy," said Raphael Erb, CEO of SoftwareOne. "The technology landscape continues to grow more complex as organizations navigate an ever-expanding mix of software licensing, cloud consumption, and AI-driven business models. Our customers need a partner whose judgement holds up through all of it."

The Gartner Magic Quadrant evaluates vendors on Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision, and readers can Learn more about the Magic Quadrant methodology. Gartner notes that it does not endorse any vendor and that its research reflects the opinions of its research organization rather than statements of fact.

SoftwareOne's ITAM and FinOps portfolio combines software asset management, FinOps and AI optimization, SaaS management, IT sustainability advisory and vendor management. The company says these services help clients cut waste, manage audit risks and enter publisher negotiations with a clear picture of usage and cost, supported by AI-enabled automation for licensing intelligence, compliance and cost control across hybrid environments.

Anglepoint, an independent company majority-owned by SoftwareOne, was also positioned as a Leader in the same Magic Quadrant, giving the group two recognized entries. SoftwareOne operates in about 70 countries with more than 12,000 professionals and is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Euronext Oslo Børs under the ticker SWON. The full announcement is available in the Media release (PDF).

The implication for buyers is straightforward: as AI subscriptions and cloud consumption add layers to already tangled software estates, vendor stability and repeatable delivery become procurement criteria in their own right. A seventh straight Leader designation gives SoftwareOne a marketing anchor in a crowded managed services field, while signaling to customers that audit exposure and overspend remain live risks worth addressing before renewal cycles arrive.
