Solar Electric Supply Expands Support for Ten West Link Transmission Project

Solar Electric Supply, Inc. (SES) and P&R Technologies have announced an expansion of their support for the Ten West Link 500kV Transmission Line Project. Following the initial delivery of 110 MAPPS solar obstruction utility LED lighting systems in early 2023, an additional order for 15 more systems has been placed, bringing the total to 125. SES is also providing ongoing field support and technician training in 2024, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining this critical renewable infrastructure.

The Ten West Link project, sponsored by DCR Transmission, is a crucial development in enhancing power reliability and facilitating renewable energy integration in the region. It connects multiple large solar farms to a 500kW line, linking the Delaney Substation in Arizona to the Colorado River 500 kV bus in California. This project is expected to have significant economic and environmental impacts, keeping ratepayer costs low and providing opportunities for renewable energy development.

Parker Osgood, a representative from P&R Technologies, highlighted the importance of SES's expertise in delivering and supporting these systems, ensuring a smooth installation process and providing invaluable ongoing support. The MAPPS Model MAPPS-400-324-24-120, a custom 400-watt solar system supplied by SES, features remote wireless monitoring and satisfies Buy America and ARRA requirements, making it ideal for this critical application.

The project's significance was further emphasized by Vice President Kamala Harris at a groundbreaking event in January 2023. She stressed the importance of investing in clean energy infrastructure and highlighted the role of projects like Ten West Link in creating jobs and combating the climate crisis. The Vice President noted that the transmission line would deliver clean electricity from desert wind and solar farms to major cities and rural communities, resulting in economic benefits for American families.
