UGI Utilities is initiating a significant system upgrade project in Union Township, encompassing areas of Winfield, starting June 23. This initiative underscores UGI's dedication to ensuring the safety and reliability of its services. The project not only involves gas main replacements but also presents a chance for certain homes and businesses along the route to switch to natural gas, marking a pivotal step towards energy efficiency and sustainability.
The construction, set to conclude by early September, will affect several roads, including Trutt Road, Woodsedge Drive, and Felmey Road, among others. Residents and commuters should anticipate road closures, detours, and possible traffic delays during the construction period, Monday through Friday, from 7am to 5pm. Additionally, parking restrictions and temporary interruptions to natural gas service are expected, necessitating UGI's access to properties for inspection and equipment relighting.
While weather and working conditions may influence the project's timeline, UGI assures that final paving and restoration will follow the underground work completion. This upgrade is a critical infrastructure enhancement that promises long-term benefits for the community, including improved service reliability and the potential for more customers to access natural gas, a cleaner energy source.
