A remarkably rare 1966 Mercedes-Benz 600 Six-Door Pullman Limousine has been added to the DFW Car & Toy Museum's collection, offering automotive enthusiasts a glimpse into a pinnacle of mid-century automotive design and engineering.
This extraordinary vehicle is one of only 42 six-door configurations ever manufactured, with unique features including a factory sunroof and air conditioning. Originally retained by Mercedes-Benz for transporting engineers and VIP guests, the limousine represents a significant piece of automotive history.
The Mercedes-Benz 600 was renowned for its advanced hydraulic system, which powered nearly every vehicle function, including a self-leveling air suspension. Its technological sophistication and commanding presence made it the preferred transportation for world leaders, entertainment icons, and dignitaries, including the Pope.
The limousine's provenance is equally impressive. Previously owned by Klaus Kienle, a former head of major repairs and special vehicles at Mercedes-Benz, the car has been meticulously maintained and documented by the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center USA.
The vehicle now resides in the museum's new 150,000-square-foot facility in Fort Worth, Texas, which promises to be a destination for automotive and toy enthusiasts. With over 200 cars and 3,000 toys, the museum offers visitors a comprehensive look into automotive history and collectibles.
