The initiative is part of broader efforts to position València as a premier destination for cultural tourism, according to a press release from the International Association of the Cultural Route The Way of the Holy Grail of Europe.
The new signage includes interpretative panels with historical information, route maps, and QR codes offering multilingual content. This allows both residents and tourists to explore the route independently, reinforcing València's reputation for innovative and inclusive cultural offerings. The International Association toured the newly signposted route and presented the official Way of the Holy Grail Pilgrim Credential, underscoring the link between the urban experience and the historic route connecting Jerusalem, Rome, Aragón, and València.
The association views the signage as more than a tourism initiative; it is a decisive step toward promoting the Holy Chalice's heritage internationally within the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme. This positions València as both the culmination of the relic's documented history and a starting point for European cultural cooperation. The association has congratulated the City Council and proposed an institutional initiative titled "València: Gateway to the European Cultural Route: The Way of the Holy Grail," while inviting the city to participate in the 15th Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, scheduled for September 23-25, 2026, in Yerevan, Armenia.
The project is supported by cooperation agreements between the City Council's Department of Entrepreneurship and the International Association, as well as between the Provincial Council of València–Turisme València and the Cultural Association The Way of the Holy Grail. These collaborations highlight a shared commitment to enhancing cultural heritage, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering sustainable tourism, with València as the gateway to the route described as a "Route of Knowledge, Path of Peace."
