VenHub's Autonomous Retail Robots Aim to Transform Retail Landscape Amid Objections

VenHub, a developer of fully autonomous robotic Smart Stores, aims to revolutionize the retail industry with its plug-and-play technology that can be deployed globally within days. While the concept faces some objections, VenHub believes its innovative approach addresses these concerns effectively.

One major concern is the potential for increased theft. According to the National Retail Federation, theft costs retailers over $100 billion annually, primarily due to shoplifting. VenHub's solution involves modules designed with insulated walls, monitoring systems, and bulletproof glass to mitigate theft, riots, and fires, thereby reducing operating expenses and expanding margins for retailers.

Another concern is the fear of job losses due to automation. McKinsey & Company reports that retail employee turnover has historically been 60% or higher. VenHub argues that the difficulty in staffing 24/7 stores can be alleviated through automation. Moreover, the company claims it will create more high-paying jobs in technology and operations, outweighing the number of low-wage jobs displaced.

Concerns about consumer adaptation to new technology are also addressed. At the end of 1999, online sales accounted for 0.6% of retail transactions in the U.S.; today, they represent about 16%, or over $289 billion. VenHub's autonomous stores offer similar benefits of convenience and crowd avoidance, suggesting that consumers may adapt more readily than expected.

Additionally, some argue that fully autonomous stores won't work in rural communities. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports a significant decrease in grocery stores in communities with populations between 2,500 and 20,000 since 1990. VenHub's Smart Stores, which can be solar-powered and tailored to local needs, could provide a viable solution by being located closer to these remote shoppers.

To date, over 800 VenHub Smart Stores have been pre-ordered globally. These stores use an app-based ordering system, making items available 24/7. The prefab stores, which are expandable to 800 square feet, can be installed in just a few days. VenHub is also preparing to issue shares to the public in a Regulation CF offering via Issuance Express, which is open for investment until August 21st.
