Verizon Expands Cybersecurity Services with New Home Protection and Enhanced Mobile Security

Verizon is introducing new cybersecurity services and enhancing existing protection offerings during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, responding to increasing digital threats facing consumers. The telecommunications giant unveiled Digital Secure Home service alongside a major refresh of the Verizon Protect app, positioning these offerings as essential defenses against evolving cyber risks.

Che Phillip, Senior Vice President of Consumer Device Marketing at Verizon, emphasized the company's commitment to security, stating that securing customer connections sits at the heart of Verizon's promise. The timing coincides with concerning data from the 2025 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, which found that exploitation of vulnerabilities as an initial access vector for breaches grew by 34% from last year.

The new Digital Secure Home service addresses the security challenges posed by the increasing number of connected devices in modern households. Managed through the Verizon Home app, the service comes in two tiers. The entry-level Digital Secure Home provides Vulnerability Assessments and Malicious Website Protection at no additional cost with Fios Home Internet service. The premium Digital Secure Home Plus, priced at $5.99 per month, adds advanced protection against botnet and brute force attacks, detects abnormal device behavior, and safeguards sensitive data on router-connected devices.

Simultaneously, Verizon has refreshed its Verizon Protect app with new features designed to give customers greater insight into their online safety. The updated app introduces a Security Rating system that provides a dynamic score showing how secure personal data is, along with personalized insights for improvement. Security Categories allow users to measure their protection across four key areas: Identity, Device, Network and Online, with recommended actions to strengthen security in each category.

The company is also highlighting its Fall Open Enrollment period for Verizon Mobile Protect, available through November 3. This comprehensive device protection offers coverage against loss, theft, damage including liquid damage, and post-warranty malfunctions. Benefits include unlimited claims, unlimited cracked screen repairs at no additional cost, 24/7 premium tech support, and same-day device delivery and setup in some cases.

These cybersecurity enhancements come as Verizon continues to expand its service portfolio beyond traditional network connectivity. Customers can access the Verizon Home app through Google Play and Apple's App Store, while the Verizon Protect app is available through the company's mobile platforms. The expanded security offerings reflect Verizon's broader strategy to provide comprehensive digital protection as cyber threats continue to evolve in sophistication and frequency.
