VolitionRx Study Shows Nu.Q Cancer Assay May Predict Lung Cancer Outcomes

VolitionRx Limited (NYSE American: VNRX) announced the release of a new clinical study demonstrating the prognostic value of its Nu.Q Cancer Assay in patients newly diagnosed with lung cancer. The real-world study, conducted with researchers and clinicians at France's Hospices Civils de Lyon, found that levels of the assay's H3K27Me3-nucleosome biomarker were associated with cancer stage, overall survival and progression-free survival. A prognostic model incorporating the biomarker and clinical factors successfully stratified patients into low- and high-risk mortality groups. The paper is currently under peer review.

Volition said the findings support the potential use of Nu.Q Cancer to help personalize treatment selection and improve clinical decision-making. The company added that clinical certification of the test at Hospices Civils de Lyon has been completed and that it is preparing a reimbursement submission in France under the RIHN framework. Volition also said it is pursuing commercialization opportunities with hospital networks and potential licensing partners internationally, with reimbursement representing a key milestone toward routine clinical use in France.

The study's results are significant because lung cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer death worldwide, and tools to better predict patient outcomes could help doctors tailor therapies more effectively. If the Nu.Q Cancer Assay gains regulatory approval and reimbursement, it could become a standard part of diagnostic workups for newly diagnosed lung cancer patients, potentially improving survival rates by guiding more aggressive treatment for high-risk patients and avoiding overtreatment for low-risk patients.
