Western Star Resources Inc. (CSE: WSR) (OTC: WSRIF) has reported high-grade tungsten assay results from its inaugural programs at the Rowland Tungsten Property and White Star Tungsten Project in Elko County, Nevada, the company announced July 28. The results, which include rock-chip assays of up to 4.02% WO3, exceed twice the reported historical grades, according to CEO Blake Morgan.
At the Rowland Main workings, sample RO-16-01 returned 4.02% WO3, with additional standout results of 2.69%, 2.56%, and 2.11% WO3. At the White Star Batholith Mine, sample WS-16-02 graded 3.00% WO3 with 711 ppm molybdenum. The White Star sample was collected from an area not previously known to be mineralized, the company said.
Eighteen rock-chip and channel samples from Rowland Main ranged from 0.01% to 4.02% WO3, with five samples exceeding 1.0% WO3. Coincident molybdenum values reached 110.5 ppm, and silver values hit 6.82 g/t. At Northern Zone B, three samples returned 0.35% to 1.22% WO3, with silver up to 10.85 g/t and copper up to 0.8%. One sample from Northern Zone A returned 0.23% WO3.
“Receiving results of this tenor, that exceed twice the reported historical grades mark an exciting development at the Rowland and White Star Properties, and demonstrate the high-grade nature of the system in the district,” Morgan stated.
The results will be integrated with completed UAV magnetic geophysical surveys and pending soil geochemistry to support drill target generation across the consolidated Jarbidge-Charleston tungsten footprint. The news matters because tungsten is a critical mineral used in aerospace, defense, and electronics, and Western Star is positioning itself to secure domestic supply for the U.S. market, which relies heavily on imports.
The company’s focus on revitalizing North American tungsten supply aligns with growing demand for critical minerals. The high-grade results could potentially reduce reliance on foreign sources, impacting supply chains and national security. For investors, the assays support the viability of the properties and may influence future exploration decisions.
Samples were analyzed by ALS Global in Reno, Nevada, using ICP-MS and fusion XRF methods. Chain-of-custody protocols and QA/QC procedures were maintained, including standard reference materials, blanks, and duplicates. The qualified person for the release is Jasper Mowatt, MIMMM and MAusIMM.
Further soil sampling is ongoing, and the company will provide updates as additional assays are received.
