2G Energy Replaces CFO as It Targets Revenue Above EUR 1 Billion

2G Energy AG, a German manufacturer of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, large heat pumps and peak-load gensets, is changing its chief financial officer at a moment when the company says it is building the financial and organisational framework needed to support revenue in excess of EUR 1 billion. The announcement, carried by NEWMEDIAWIRE, sets out a transition that has been long planned but still carries weight for investors tracking the company's scale-up ambitions.

Friedrich Pehle, CFO for nine years, asked the Supervisory Board for personal reasons to end his Management Board term early; his appointment had originally run until 31 December 2027. The board agreed and began the search for a successor. The Management Board was temporarily expanded to four members until the end of the year, and from 1 January 2027 Pehle will leave the board, focus exclusively on investor relations and report to the new CFO.

Martin Laux, appointed to the Management Board as CFO effective 1 November 2026, joins from DEUTZ AG, where he most recently served as CFO of the Engines business unit, responsible for a business with revenue of approximately EUR 1.5 billion. He previously held international management positions within the DEUTZ Group, including work on Group-wide performance management tools and efficiency programmes, and began his career at the BMW Group after graduating in industrial engineering.

Christian Grotholt, Supervisory Board member and founder of 2G Energy, credited Pehle with helping professionalise the company and said his judgement and strategic foresight had guided employees and investors in Germany and abroad. Pehle said the company had advanced significantly and established early the structures required for its next step-change in revenue and profitability, adding that the investment story must now be positioned on international capital markets. CEO Pablo Hofelich said Laux's experience guiding complex industrial companies through internationalisation and organisational scaling would strengthen 2G's financial capabilities and support sustainable, profitable growth.

Why this matters extends beyond a single boardroom reshuffle. 2G employs more than 1,000 people at its Heek headquarters, in North America and at six other European locations, operates in more than 60 countries and generated net sales of EUR 398.4 million in the 2025 financial year with an EBIT margin of 6.6%. Reaching revenue above EUR 1 billion would mean roughly two and a half times that base, making the finance function's capacity to manage capital markets, M&A integration and efficiency a central test of the strategy. The company's shares have been listed since 2007 and trade in the Scale segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the Scale30 index, so the handover will be scrutinised by public investors.

2G's product range spans CHP plants from 20 kW to 4,500 kW running on hydrogen, natural gas, biogas and other lean gases, large heat pumps from 100 kW to 3,200 kW and peak-load gensets of 500 kW or more. CHP plants reach efficiencies of 90% and above, while large heat pumps achieve 300% to 500% depending on conditions. More than 10,000 systems have been installed worldwide.
