Abacus Semiconductor Welcomes Dr. Kevin Camera to Executive Team

Abacus Semiconductor has announced the addition of Dr. Kevin Camera to its executive management team. Dr. Camera brings two decades of experience in hardware and software engineering, having held prominent roles in several pioneering technology companies. His career began as Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of Engineering at BEEcube, a startup known for advanced real-time reconfigurable computing and early field demonstrations of 5G wireless telecommunications. After BEEcube's acquisition by National Instruments, Dr. Camera led firmware and software engineering at Velodyne Lidar, where he was promoted to Vice President of Product. At Velodyne, he oversaw multiple product lines that became global volume leaders, leveraging his expertise in 3D sensing products and AI applications. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Product at Lumotive, focusing on software-definable semiconductor metamaterial technology.

Dr. Camera emphasized the need for comprehensive and scalable solutions in the computational field, stating, 'Customers do not look for only a processor or an accelerator or a memory, even if performance and scale-out are an upgrade over existing technologies. Customers demand a complete and scalable solution to their computational challenges, and as such we have to deliver systems that integrate not only our hardware, but all the firmware, software, and APIs necessary for customer to deploy both their existing and future applications.'

Dr. Axel Kloth, Founder and CEO of Abacus Semiconductor, expressed his enthusiasm about the new addition to the leadership team, saying, 'I am proud to have Kevin join the leadership team here at Abacus Semiconductor. His pedigree of shipping many disruptive semiconductor, hardware, and software products in volume will be a great asset as we disrupt the hyperscale AI infrastructure market.'

Abacus Semiconductor is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in RISC-V based processors, accelerators, and smart multi-homed memories designed to support the computational backbone of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company's innovative beyond-Harvard computing architecture aims to address the scalability challenges in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure market.
