ARC Clean Technology and Nucleon Energy Partner to Advance Small Modular Reactor Deployment in North America

ARC Clean Technology and Nucleon Energy have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore potential deployment of the ARC-100, an advanced small modular reactor (aSMR), across power generation sites in Alberta, Canada, and Texas.

The collaboration represents a significant step toward advancing clean energy infrastructure and supporting decarbonization efforts in heavy industry and regional power grids. The ARC-100, a 100-megawatt Generation IV sodium-cooled fast reactor, is designed to provide flexible, low-carbon energy solutions for sectors including oil and gas, refining, chemicals, and manufacturing.

Under the agreement, both companies will evaluate siting options for the ARC-100, with initial focus on incorporating the reactor into Nucleon's current power generation development projects. The partnership aims to progress toward regulatory licensing in both Canada and the United States.

Dustin Wilkes, President and CEO of Nucleon Energy, emphasized the importance of small modular reactors in meeting power reliability and emissions reduction goals. Robert Braun, Chief Operating Officer of ARC Clean Technology, highlighted the strategic nature of identifying partners and sites compatible with their low-carbon energy technology.

The MOU establishes a framework for a potential long-term commercial partnership, with the possibility of deploying multiple ARC-100 units across North America. This collaboration could significantly impact the transition to cleaner, more sustainable energy production in industrial and power generation sectors.
