Blue Lagoon Resources Wins Prestigious PDAC 2026 Sustainability Award for British Columbia Mining Project

Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. has been selected to receive the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2026 Sustainability Award, recognizing leadership in environmental stewardship and meaningful community relations in mining. The award highlights Blue Lagoon's sustainability and Indigenous partnership efforts at its Dome Mountain Gold Project in British Columbia, marking the first time in a decade that a British Columbia project has received this prestigious recognition.

President and CEO Rana Vig stated that the award affirmation validates the company's approach at Dome Mountain, which emphasizes environmental protection, early and frequent community engagement, and building long-term partnerships with local communities. Vig expressed gratitude to the Lake Babine Nation for their trust and collaboration, noting pride in the team's efforts to embed these values into daily operations. The company's relationship with Indigenous communities has been a cornerstone of its operational philosophy, with Chief Wilfred Adam of the Lake Babine Nation, who sponsored the nomination, confirming that Blue Lagoon has demonstrated respect for their people and land through relationships based on listening, learning, and acting with integrity.

The PDAC Awards have recognized dedication and ingenuity driving advancement in communities across Canada and globally since 1977. Recent honorees include industry leaders such as Teck Resources, The Lundin Foundation, and B2Gold, underscoring the caliber of sustainability leadership recognized by PDAC. Blue Lagoon's selection as the lone British Columbia recipient in the past decade is particularly significant given the jurisdiction's rigorous permitting standards, recognizing the company's successful transition from exploration to mining while maintaining strong environmental stewardship and respect for Lake Babine Nation values.

The award will be presented at PDAC's Awards Celebration & Nite Cap during the PDAC Convention in Toronto on March 3, 2026. This recognition comes at a pivotal moment for Blue Lagoon, which achieved a major milestone in February 2025 with the granting of a full mining permit—one of only nine issued in British Columbia since 2015—and has since commenced underground mining operations. The company plans to process mineralized material from Dome Mountain under a long-term toll milling agreement with Nicola Mining, targeting first gold sales for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Beginning in the first half of 2026, Blue Lagoon intends to reinvest internally generated cash flow into near-mine and regional exploration to further expand its resource base. The company's production decision at Dome Mountain is based on existing mining infrastructure, past bulk sampling and processing activity, and established mineral resources, though it acknowledges increased uncertainty when production precedes a feasibility study. This award recognition signals growing industry acknowledgment that sustainable mining practices and meaningful Indigenous partnerships are becoming essential components of successful mineral development in environmentally sensitive jurisdictions.
