Although Mental Health Awareness Month has concluded, volunteers from the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Sacramento are ensuring that mental wellness resources remain accessible. Throughout the past week, they joined a global outreach spanning 50 nations, bringing practical tools to local communities. The effort comes amid rising stress levels among young Americans, with roughly half of adults under 30 reporting that managing stress is a major challenge, according to recent studies.
Volunteers spent the month reaching out across Sacramento, offering complimentary stress tests, educational materials, and invitations to local seminars. The outreach coincided with the anniversary of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard, first published in 1950 and now read by millions worldwide. Over Memorial Day weekend, volunteers visited Denio's Farmers Market and the Galt flea market, where they engaged with residents from all walks of life. Families learned about managing stress, students asked about handling daily pressures, and community members took free stress tests to gain insight into their emotional well-being.
One interaction stood out for Foundation staff member Frencis Iraola. “A mother and her son came to our Dianetics table and both took the stress test. When they saw that they shared similar areas of stress, they became very interested in learning more. They picked up a copy of the book and wanted additional information about our activities. It was rewarding to see a family finding something they could explore together.”
“Mental health awareness should not end when May ends,” said Larrianne McIntyre, Director of the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Sacramento. “Every day we meet people dealing with work pressures, financial concerns, family challenges, and the many stresses that come with modern life. Dianetics provides practical tools people can use to better understand the sources of stress and take positive steps toward improving their lives.”
The Sacramento outreach was part of a coordinated international campaign involving volunteers in more than 250 cities across 50 nations, from Los Angeles to London and New York to New Delhi. The Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Sacramento offers introductory demonstrations, lectures, and weekend seminars for those interested. For more information, visit www.dianetics.org.
