Former Oregon State Senator Tim Knopp has been selected as the new Oregon State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits, succeeding Alek Skarlatos who was recently elected to the Oregon State House. Knopp, with 18 years of legislative experience in both the Oregon House and Senate, brings a wealth of political knowledge to the role.
Knopp expressed enthusiasm for his new position, emphasizing the broad public support for congressional term limits. He noted that term limits represent a rare issue of bipartisan agreement, with polls indicating that Oregonians across the political spectrum support the concept.
The veteran legislator believes that congressional service has transformed from public service into a perceived lifelong entitlement. By advocating for term limits, Knopp aims to enhance governmental accountability, introduce greater diversity in congressional representation, and ultimately improve governmental effectiveness.
Philip Blumel, President of U.S. Term Limits, expressed confidence in Knopp's leadership, alongside co-chair Andrew Kalloch, to advance their term limits resolution in Oregon. Knopp's reputation as a champion of constitutional rights, fiscal responsibility, and small business support further strengthens the organization's advocacy efforts.
As a native Oregonian with over 45 years of residency in Central Oregon, Knopp brings a deep understanding of local political dynamics to his new role with the nation's largest grassroots term limits advocacy group.
