Comedy Village Times Square is launching a monthly comedy residency featuring Funny Women of a Certain Age®, a comedic showcase celebrating female comedians with decades of experience. Created by veteran stand-up comedian Carole Montgomery, the show directly confronts entertainment industry biases against women as they age.
The monthly performances will feature accomplished comedians who have significant industry experience, presenting unfiltered, authentic comedy that challenges stereotypes about women's relevance and humor. Montgomery, with over 40 years in stand-up comedy, developed the show to highlight talented performers who have historically been marginalized in entertainment.
Previous performers have included notable comedians like Fran Drescher, Janeane Garofalo, and Caroline Rhea, representing a powerhouse lineup of comedic talent. The show's mission extends beyond entertainment, serving as a platform to challenge pervasive ageism and sexism in comedy and media.
Comedy Village owner PJ Landers emphasized the venue's commitment to diverse voices, stating that the show represents authentic storytelling and exceptional comedic talent. The residency offers audiences an opportunity to experience comedy that is both hilarious and culturally significant.
Tickets are priced at $20 with a two-item minimum, making the show accessible to comedy enthusiasts interested in experiencing groundbreaking performances that celebrate women's comedic voices across generations.
