In a significant move towards interfaith dialogue and global peace, the Shincheonji Church of Jesus recently hosted the '2nd World Invitational Special Lecture on the Book of Revelation' in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, Korea. The event, which saw participation from approximately 1,000 religious leaders representing 57 countries, marks a substantial increase from the first lecture held eight months ago.
The lecture series, initiated with the aim of fostering mutual understanding between religions through scriptural study, has gained considerable traction. Lee Man-hee, president of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, emphasized the importance of recognizing commonalities across religious scriptures to achieve unity. The event's scale, growing from 80 participants from 27 countries in its first iteration to its current size, underscores a growing interest in interfaith cooperation.
Participants, who attended at their own expense, engaged in a comprehensive program that included attending a graduation ceremony at the Zion Christian Mission Center, learning about the fulfilled Book of Revelation, and participating in prayers for global peace. The lecture series culminated with representatives from various faiths, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam, sharing their insights on the Book of Revelation.
A notable development from the first lecture has been the establishment of 'Peace Centers' in various countries, indicating the event's lasting impact on promoting interfaith dialogue. Religious leaders expressed their intentions to continue scriptural exchanges and cooperation with Shincheonji Church of Jesus to foster world peace.
The event also featured a documentary screening on religious reconciliation in Mindanao, Philippines, further emphasizing the theme of peace through understanding. As religious leaders pledged to share their experiences and newly gained knowledge in their home countries, the lecture series appears poised to become a significant platform for international religious harmony.
This growing interfaith initiative reflects a broader trend towards global religious cooperation and understanding. As religious leaders from diverse backgrounds come together to study scriptures and promote peace, the potential for reducing religious conflicts and fostering a more harmonious global society increases. The success and expansion of this event suggest a promising direction for future interfaith dialogues and peace-building efforts on an international scale.
