Knightscope, Inc. (NASDAQ:KSCP), a leading AI and security technology company based in Silicon Valley, has secured the trust of the Huntington Park Police Department for the sixth consecutive year. The renewed contract ensures that the K5 Autonomous Security Robot (ASR) will continue its critical role in Salt Lake Park, a decision attributed to notable improvements in public safety and a significant reduction in crime.
Knightscope's technology, which includes autonomous security robots and blue light emergency communication systems, is designed to deter, detect, and report incidents in real-time. These advancements provide security professionals with unparalleled situational awareness, transforming traditional crime prevention methods.
The deployment of Knightscope’s K5 ASR has led to a 10% reduction in service calls and a 46% decrease in crime reports during its initial year of operation at Salt Lake Park. Huntington Park Police Chief Cosme Lozano highlighted the transformative impact of the K5 ASR, stating that it has significantly improved the department's ability to monitor public spaces and enhance community safety.
Moreover, Knightscope upgraded the Huntington Park Police Department's robot to the fifth-generation K5 ASR at no extra cost. This new version features a wider stance for better stability, a raised camera for near eye-level 4K video capture, improved battery architecture, enhanced audio, additional lighting for nighttime visibility, and an optimized design for easier maintenance, thereby boosting its effectiveness and reliability.
William Santana Li, Chairman and CEO of Knightscope, emphasized the importance of equipping law enforcement with advanced tools, expressing pride in the ongoing partnership and its role in protecting public spaces.
The K5 ASR’s success in Huntington Park has garnered attention beyond the city. Recently, Citi featured the K5 robot in its report titled "The Rise of AI Robots," positioning it alongside notable innovations like Boston Dynamics' Spot robot and Tesla's Optimus.
Knightscope's recent contract expansions extend beyond local law enforcement. The company has secured deals with schools, transit agencies, multifamily communities, and universities, reflecting growing confidence in its security technologies. Notably, the University of Texas has increased its use of Knightscope's emergency communication systems, and a multifamily community in California has expanded its contract to include more K5 ASRs. Additionally, two other universities have extended their contracts to further enhance campus security.
These developments highlight Knightscope's expanding influence and its commitment to improving safety and security across diverse sectors and locations.
