German hospital group RHON-KLINIKUM AG reported strong financial results for the first nine months of 2026, with consolidated profit rising to EUR 32.7 million from EUR 25.1 million in the same period last year. The increase was driven by higher capacity utilization and an 8.3% rise in patient numbers to 764,248, particularly in the outpatient sector.
Revenue grew to EUR 1,303.8 million from EUR 1,262.1 million, while EBITDA reached EUR 83.9 million, up from EUR 71.8 million. The results include a 3.25% billing surcharge on hospital services, accounted for under "other income" through October 2026, intended to offset previous increases in personnel and non-personnel costs.
The company’s strong capital base, with an equity ratio of 74.7%, provides a solid foundation for optimizing inpatient and outpatient care structures. Dr. Gunther K. Weiß, member of the Board of Management, said: “Our successful third quarter shows that financial stability and medical excellence are inseparable, going hand in hand. Underlying this success is the tremendous trust our patients put in us.”
RHON-KLINIKUM continues to invest in state-of-the-art medical technology. At Universitätsklinikum Marburg, a photon-counting computer tomograph was recently put into service, making the group the only hospital operator in Germany with four newest-generation units. In Frankfurt (Oder), a new hybrid operating theatre has expanded the treatment range and strengthened interdisciplinary structures in the Ostbrandenburg region.
Dr. Stefan Stranz, also a member of the Board of Management, noted: “This forward-looking investment strategy ensures that we can continue to operate effectively in a market environment facing far-reaching and sweeping change. Thanks to our solid financial basis and our collaboration within the ASKLEPIOS Group network, we can take on and actively shape this transformation process from a position of strength.”
For the full year 2026, the company expects revenues of EUR 1.7 billion, plus or minus 5%, and EBITDA between EUR 110 million and EUR 125 million. However, the outlook is subject to significant uncertainties stemming from recent healthcare legislation. The Hospital Reform Adjustment Act (KHAG), in force since 15 April 2026, and the Statutory Health Insurance Contribution Rate Stabilisation Act (GKV-BStabG), adopted on 10 July 2026, aim to enhance quality and efficiency but are expected to put hospitals under greater financial pressure in the short term.
The quarterly statement is available on the Internet, and further information about the company can be found at www.rhoen-klinikum-ag.com. The original release is available on www.newmediawire.com.
These results matter for the healthcare industry and patients because they demonstrate that RHON-KLINIKUM can maintain profitability and invest in advanced care despite regulatory headwinds. The group’s ability to grow patient volumes and improve margins while navigating German healthcare reforms signals resilience that could serve as a model for other providers facing similar pressures.
