The Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC) has recognized 10 rural healthcare facilities for outstanding performance, showcasing the critical role of local medical providers in serving remote communities. The first annual Top 10 Rural Healthcare Facility for Overall Performance Award honored five hospitals and five clinics that demonstrated exceptional commitment to community health and innovation.
CRHC's CEO Michelle Mills emphasized the significance of local healthcare facilities, describing them as the "lifeblood of rural healthcare delivery systems." The awards were determined through comprehensive evaluation of clinic participation in quality improvement activities and hospital performance analytics provided by the Chartis Group.
The recognized hospitals include Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte, Mt. San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad, Aspen Valley Hospital, East Morgan County Hospital, and Pioneers Medical Center. Clinics receiving the honor were Family Practice of Holyoke, Grand River Health, Basin Clinic, Spanish Peaks Family Health, and Walsh Medical Center.
This recognition highlights the unique challenges and critical importance of healthcare services in rural Colorado. By celebrating these facilities, CRHC aims to draw attention to the ongoing efforts required to maintain and improve healthcare access in less populated regions of the state.
