Marks & Harrison, a law firm with over a century of community service, is addressing the critical issue of distracted driving through an innovative scholarship contest designed to engage students in traffic safety awareness.
The law firm will award three scholarships totaling $4,200 to high school seniors and college freshmen in Virginia and Washington DC who submit the most compelling essays or video presentations addressing how to educate communities about distracted driving risks and reduce related accidents.
First-place winner will receive $2,000, with second and third place winners receiving $1,200 and $1,000 respectively. Students must submit either a 1,000-word essay or a 5-6 minute video by May 2, 2025, exploring practical strategies for preventing distracted driving.
The contest recognizes distracted driving as a leading cause of traffic accidents and seeks to empower young people to develop creative solutions for community education and safety. Entries will be evaluated based on originality, creativity, and thoughtful research.
Winners will be announced on June 2, 2025, with their entries published on the firm's website and social media platforms, helping to amplify the message of driving safety to a broader audience.
