LIMES Schlosskliniken AG, a German operator of high-quality private clinics for mental health, has taken a significant step in its international expansion by signing a notarized preliminary agreement to acquire the operating company of the "Villa Boccella" estate in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. The agreement was signed in Florence on June 17, 2026, as announced in a press release.
The renovated, luxurious 14-hectare historic estate comprises eight buildings, including six villas with four swimming pools. It features 37 rooms with 62 beds across a living area of approximately 3,100 square meters. LIMES Schlosskliniken plans to convert the property into a mental health clinic, primarily targeting an international clientele. The facility is intended to bridge the gap between Paracelsus Recovery in Zurich and the LIMES locations in Germany.
The company holds an option to purchase the property, and the opening is planned for early summer 2027, subject to the granting of the clinic license by the authorities. This expansion into Italy marks a strategic move for LIMES, which specializes in treating stress-related illnesses, mental and emotional disorders such as depression, affective disorders, and acute burnout conditions. The group's services cater to private patients, those entitled to subsidies, and self-payers.
LIMES Schlosskliniken is known for its relationship-oriented medicine approach, offering a protected and healing environment alongside top medical quality. The new Tuscan location is expected to provide a unique setting for holistic recovery. For more information, visit www.limes-schlosskliniken.de.
The acquisition underscores the growing demand for premium mental health services in Europe and highlights LIMES's commitment to expanding its footprint in attractive markets. With its historic charm and modern amenities, Villa Boccella is poised to become a flagship destination for international patients seeking high-end psychiatric care.
