Meeder Investment Management has appointed Peeyush Shukla, CFA®, FRM, as Chief Data, AI and Technology Officer, a newly created leadership role that underscores the firm's increasing focus on data, artificial intelligence and technology. Shukla is the first technology expert to join Meeder's Leadership Team, reflecting the firm's continued investment in innovation as it positions its infrastructure to support growth and an evolving investment management landscape.
"Technology and data are increasingly important to how we operate, serve our clients and position Meeder for the future," said Bob Meeder, President and Chief Executive Officer. "The addition of Peeyush to our Leadership Team represents an important investment in the future of our firm. He brings a rare combination of investment management experience, technology leadership and an understanding of how data and AI can create meaningful business value. We are excited to have him leading these efforts across Meeder."
In his new role, Shukla leads Meeder's data and technology strategy, including the continued development of enterprise platforms and artificial intelligence initiatives. His responsibilities bring together technology modernization, data capabilities and emerging technologies to support the firm's long-term strategic objectives.
Shukla brings more than two decades of experience leading enterprise transformation across investment management and financial services. His career includes senior leadership positions spanning enterprise data management, analytics, artificial intelligence, investment platforms, technology architecture and operational modernization. Prior to joining Meeder, he served as Head of Data, AI, and Technology at Heitman, where he modernized the firm's global technology architecture, streamlined investment operating platforms, and established enterprise data management, analytics, and AI capabilities. Previously, as Managing Director of Multi-Asset Technology, Data and Analytics at Nuveen, he led technology and data initiatives to streamline and optimize investment platforms, and helped establish enterprise data science and AI capabilities.
"Meeder has a strong foundation, an entrepreneurial culture and a clear commitment to investing in its future," Shukla said. "There is tremendous opportunity to bring together data, AI and technology in ways that make our teams more effective, strengthen our capabilities and ultimately enhance how we serve our clients. I am excited to work across the organization to build on Meeder's momentum and help shape the next generation of our technology and data capabilities."
Shukla holds an MBA with distinction, with majors in Finance and Strategy, from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a master's degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and Certified Financial Risk Manager. His professional involvement includes serving as Vice Chairman of CFA® Society Chicago.
The appointment highlights a broader trend in asset management, where firms are increasingly treating data and AI as core strategic functions rather than back-office support. Meeder Investment Management has been helping clients achieve their financial goals for more than 50 years. Serving public entities, institutions, financial advisors, and individual investors, the firm offers a wide range of investment solutions, including mutual funds, model portfolios, cash management, and personalized advisory services. With more than 150 associates and over $190 billion in assets under advisement, Meeder is committed to improving investor outcomes through disciplined investing, education, and long-term partnership.
For clients and the wider industry, the creation of this C-suite role signals that Meeder intends to compete on technology-enabled advice and operational efficiency. As AI continues to reshape investment research, portfolio construction and client service, firms that build robust data foundations may be better positioned to deliver consistent outcomes. Meeder's move places it among asset managers elevating technology leadership to the highest levels of decision-making, a shift that could influence how peers structure their own executive teams and prioritize innovation investments.
