The Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC) has recognized 10 rural healthcare facilities for exceptional performance, showcasing the vital contributions of small medical centers to community health. Five hospitals and five clinics received the Top 10 Rural Healthcare Facility for Overall Performance Award during the inaugural Colorado Rural Healthcare Conference.
The awards spotlight the unique challenges and achievements of rural healthcare providers. CRHC's data team evaluated facilities based on quality improvement activities, innovation, and community service. Hospital recipients were determined through analytics from the Chartis Group, a leading rural healthcare research organization.
CRHC CEO Michelle Mills emphasized the importance of these healthcare facilities, stating that local hospitals and clinics are essential to rural healthcare delivery systems. The recognition highlights the dedicated work of medical professionals serving smaller, often underresourced communities.
Award-winning hospitals include Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte, Mt. San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad, Aspen Valley Hospital, East Morgan County Hospital, and Pioneers Medical Center. Clinic recipients range from Family Practice of Holyoke to Walsh Medical Center, representing diverse rural regions across Colorado.
This inaugural awards program signals a growing recognition of rural healthcare's critical role in maintaining community health and addressing unique medical challenges in less populated areas. By celebrating these facilities, CRHC aims to draw attention to the innovative approaches and commitment demonstrated by rural healthcare providers.
